Description

A solid version of the modular rod, as an alternative to the vase mode mod rod, that can be printed with PLA and a standard size nozzle. All the modular rod designs are meant to be inter-compatible.

There are two versions of this: faceted and plain. The faceted versions will match up better with fellow faceted versions, and plain with plain. With the faceted design, I wanted to do a neat-looking, intentional design that helps draw the eye away from the place where the individual rods connect.

Each rod is 15 cm plus 2 cm of connecting screw, so 17 cm tall in total.

Note: These are meant to be a prop, and I would recommend neither relying on the design to support weight, nor expecting it to be harmless if you hit something with it.

How to Print:

  • At least 15% infill, cubic. More if you want them to be stronger.
  • 3 perimeters for 0.4mm line width. You can also add perimeters for strength.
  • The open part rests on the bed when you print it, and you'll want to use either glue stick/adhesive or a brim (outer only.)
  • I recommend aligned seams, especially for the faceted rods.
  • Some of these parts may not work as well if you print them upside down, mainly anything with a screw hole. The space inside the screw hole is designed slightly differently based on whether it faces up or down.

Iterations using these rods (Star-Moon Staff, Glowing Orb Staff) are designed so that the open end of the stick goes on top and the screw goes on the bottom, but I've also included various converters so you can mix it up and have a topper on both ends, or a plain cap or finial on both ends, etc. I've also included converter parts that will allow you to connect these solid rods to the vase mode modular rods.

The filament in the photo is Prusament Mystic Brown PLA.
