Description

Heyho

For the MakerFaire in Hannover I did need some tools for the visitors to thest the laparoscopic trainer.

https://www.printables.com/model/864261-laparoscopic-trainer-for-students-and-surgeons-col

Sadly the tools my friend Allen Mehr sent me from Hawaii didn't arrive in time. So I had to spontaneously create these grippers :)

They make the whole process of learning how to coordinate and grip stuff on the laparoscopic trainer a lot harder! At the faire I offered the visitors to unwrap some candy with them. It worked very good but it also was quite a challange!

So if you want to train your coordination skills, you just want to have a cool party game or need grippers like this for any other task: Here are the Dragon grippers for you! :D

In addition to use this Grippers on the Trainer you will also need to print the ball head with a 8 mm diameter hole. (Extra .stl in this design)

Print Instructions:

I used PLA & PETG for the Parts. 3-4 Perimeter and 100% Infill for best stability.
0,2 mm layer height and 0,4 mm nozzle.

Parts List:

In addition to the printed parts you will need:

1 x stiff rope (mac 2,2 mm diameter)

1 x Carbon Rod (Outer diameter 7,35 mm) I used the Warrior Arrow shafts by bearpaw.

The length of the rod and rope is up to you. You can create a short or a long version of this gripper :)

If you need the design for annother sized tube: Ask me directly or comment the desired size. I might have the time to adapt the design to other sizes!

1 x M4 x 10 mm Screw (Handle)
1 x M4 x 8 mm Screw (Handle: Rope fixation)
1 x M4 x 10 mm Screw (Pulley)
1 x M3 x 18 mm Screw (Dragon Head)

1x Rubber Band (Not too strong - just to keep the mouth open when there is no tension required)

Assembly:
See the assembly of the parts in this picture!

  1. Assemble the Handle.
  2. Assemble the Head and pull the rope through the mouth (From the top). Add a knot to hold it in place. - Make the knot big enough to withstand the tension later on.
  3. If you plan on using this gripper on the laparoscopic trainer insert the rope through the tower at this point.
  4. Pull the rope through the tube and around the pulley into the Trigger (from the hole located directed to the front). For an easier assembly here you can unscrew the M4 x 10 Screw first and lift off the big washer.
  5. Add some tension to the rope so there is no slack, fixate it with the M4 x 8 mm Screw. (alternatively you can use a M4 grub screw)
  6. Add the rubber to the dragons head.
  7. Ready to go!

Have fun!
