“Dial”-Indicator Holder for Hephestos

For mounting Turbo_SunShine’s brilliant Print in Place Dial-Indicator! - For easy Bed leveling! onto a 40 mm-square fan such as on BQ’s HeatCore Unibody extruder on a BQ Prusa i3 Hephestos.

NB At least for PLA, don’t leave the indicator in the holder when not in use, else the clip will stretch and no longer grip tightly.

Print settings

Layer height: 0.1 mm initial, 0.312 mm rest.
So that the nozzle doesn’t lever the clip off the bed, you need a very thin initial layer in order to slice a large surface to grip the bed, then tall layers so that the nozzle doesn’t press down hard on the overhanging edge.
In Cura 4.7.0, 0.312 mm gives four layers at the top of the clip, but larger heights give only three so the clip flexes more and doesn’t hold the dial indicator as firmly.

Line width: 0.26 mm top/bottom; 0.6 mm rest (my nozzle is 0.4 mm).
For the bridging across the top of the clip, with nothing to squidge down on, “0.6 mm” lines would actually come out narrower and deeper with gaps between them; so a small value should be specified for the top/bottom line width.

Wall thickness: 1.2 mm

Infill: …so no space for infill.

Z seam: should go in a corner, so that it doesn’t obstruct the fit against the fan (there are slight gaps in the corners).  The corner next to the clip is best for minimising travel (and any zits/stringing).

Supports: none

Tall layers means wide overhangs, so I printed cool and with the part fan running.  And inner walls before outer.
