A foldable back scratcher with a PIP hinge, 340mm unfolded 180mm folded, 460mm@135%
An idea for a 3d printed hinge I had been working on for a bit manifested in an awesome foldable back scratcher. This was originally just me messing around in fusion trying to come up with a better print in place hinge and this is the result. I think it turned out great.
There is a bump to keep the hinge locked open with friction, but not to open so you can swing it open with one hand (satisfying) and lock it. Be careful removing support so you dont take it off by accident, its only a layer or so thick.
I plan on doing interchangeable ends for this at some point but I wanted to get my first finished one out for the contest, so keep an eye out if this interests you!
In the screenshots with the marble table, you can see the size comparison to what I think is a standard size back scratcher. as you can see 135% is not only more compact folded but its actually longer when unfolded as well!
Currently it needs support…
Not anymore, there is now an alternate model with a different handle that will print completely without support! (the only part that might benefit is the claw which will be more accurate with supports, but it does not need them) The original model with the rounded handle still needs supports.
My only other printing advice is to use 3 walls on the round handle version for strength, I also did 3 on the supportless version but it probably didnt need it.
