Light up your desk with a mini edge-lit sign!

People kept asking me about edge-lit displays, so I decided to design a quick and easy-to-assemble project. No glue needed!

The biggest obstacle about this project would be getting access to a laser cutter.

For those of you without access, I have seen some great results from people engraving with a Dremel or using a Cricut.

Materials needed:

• 5v or 12v COB LED strips
• Power supply w/ switch for selected voltage (sometimes included)
• 1/8" or 3mm acrylic
• Top and bottom 3D printed parts

Printing:

• Use higher infill or walls. The base is quite small and could benefit from being a little heavier so it doesn't tip over.
• Print in the orientation shown.

Soldering:

• Soldering is not really required, since some LED strips come with a USB cable pre-soldered.

Laser Cutting:

• Download the provided .SVG file for the cut lines and drag on your own design. The slot is 100mm wide. Expand vertically if you want. Just don't go so high that it's unable to stand.
• I used 10% power and 100% speed on a 120w CO2 laser for the etching.
