I finally broke down to tune my brake pedal for my Simsonn Pro Pedals. There are additional elastomers and springs in the kit, and I wanted to soften the initial press, with a nice progressive increase. Problem? The included springs are 11mm ID while the shaft is 10mm OD. That means the springs don't stay aligned. Worse, the base spring has 2 guides / spacers for it, that do not fit the extra springs. That means the shaft just floats in the holder with a lot of slop, 14.5mm ID hole that the 10mm OD shaft is now just floating in. There are some folks on Etsy selling what amounts to the same thing, but we have 3D printers already, and frankly this is such a simple thing, so here is my solution.

The piston guide is meant to go at the back of the piston stirrup, so the shaft isn't floating. There is enough clearance to not bind, with a tiny amount of play. Will this wear over time? Probably, so print a couple out. The spring washers are meant to go on both ends of the included tuning springs, which allows the spring to stay off the piston shaft, and stay centred on the shaft. This reduces binding and scratching on the shaft. Also makes it easier to stack springs if you want to, though still place the included steel washers between the spring washers when stacking them. Why? It should make them last longer.

So far as printing them, use PLA+, ABS, ASA, or PETG. All of those should work fine. I used ABS for mine. Print the spring washer at 0.1mm layers, and 0.2 is fine for the piston guide. Use 5 top and bottom layers, and 4 perimeters. This should make them solid with no infill, but you can also crank infill to 100% if you so desire.

If you've taken the piston off to tune, assembly should be pretty obvious, and easy to do.
