Description
People have suggested to me to make a fully enclosed flat mount version for mounting on aluminium extrusions … so here it is!
This is great for mounting on rooftop, RV ETC.
Disclaimer:
The Starlink Mini is rated for operation up to 50°C. The fully enclosed case may increase the likelihood of temporary thermal shutdown or throttling of the device.
PETG material will soften and lose structural integrity at temperatures of 85°C or higher. Darker frames will absorb heat more quickly than lighter-colored ones, potentially accelerating this process. Make sure to place the device in a well ventilated area.
During testing, the Starlink Mini flat mount (Printed in Black PETG) was exposed to full sunlight on top of a blue colored car for two consecutive hours on a 32°C day without any notable performance issues.
Mounting:
Base mounting holes are M6 (70mm diameter) and distance between the mount point are 200mm in width and 240mm in length.
Instructions:
BEFORE YOU PRINT: THIS MODEL HAS EMBEDDED NUT. INSERT A PAUSE AFTER YOU SLICE!!!
Print all 4 corner pieces and 4 pegs and laser cut a 3mm acrylic sheet for the top using the provided .dxf file.
remember to embed the m3 nut by inserting a pause to the print.
“PETG or ASA RECOMMENDED”
This version uses the exact same bill of material as well as the acrylic top sheet as my last model, starlink mini enclosure.
mounting:
20 pieces of 25mm M3
20 pieces of M3 nuts
