Description
I created this specifically for the current Education Tools contest. One of the example projects there is a model of a biological cell and that inspired me.
This is also a model of a cell, but of a different kind. At a scale of 1:25, it features a floor area of exactly 5.4 m² and a window area of 10% of that. Both these values are what the International Committee of the Red Cross recommends as minimums for a prison cell (Source here, pages 32 and 37). Many details are obviously missing, but having never been a guest at one of these facilities myself, I want to keep the guessing to a minimum and instead let the barren decor speak for itself.
Unlike the STEM background of most of the other contest entries, this one is meant for social studies and philosophy. It's a tangible representation of where some life paths might lead and it invites discussion of questions such as these:
As you can see, there's a lot to discuss here.
I separated the model into a few components, so you can pick a new, exciting shade of grey for each them or move the toilet around. The bed has to stay hanging on a wall and will surely benefit from the MK4S's new overhang capabilities or some fine tuning on the MK4. The door is a (very basic!) print-in-place mechanism and can be opened and closed a few times (depending on your filament's capabilities) or be omitted if you wish. The bars might be a bit of a torture test, but work fine on the MK4. They can also be omitted.
I used a scaled print of kh4rj0's low poly human for visualisation in the pictures.
Please don't print upscaled versions of this on the Prusa XL to imprison your hamster.
