!! At the time of upload i have not yet flown my first prototype, there may be design changes based on test flight results !!
The current thrust line is identical to the real world A-10 and will result in a pitch down moment when power is applied. test flights will show if this moment is acceptable or if it has to be reduced by changing the thrust line. i will update the model accordingly once my test flights are done.
Test flights planned in April/May 2025.
UPDATE Test Flights have been attempted. sadly there is a significant pitch down moment which means a redesign will be done. the thrust line and elevator design will be changed. once done an updated version will be uploaded.
UPDATE 2 A Beta version of the redesigned A-10 CS has been added to this listing. it is as of now UNTESTED and will likely undergo a few more tweaks before it flies again. feel free to test it out yourself. but i can currently make no guarantees it fixes the issues since i have not tested it yet…
Changes implemented are:
- thrust line moved from 3deg positive to 1.5deg negative
- thrust tube outlet changed to have a slight pitch up trim
- wing and elevator span increased by 40mm (this also impacts the length requirement for the wing and elevator carbon rods)
- elevator airfoil changed from NACA2412 to a generic symmetric profile to remove pitch down trim from the elevator

This model is designed to be printed with LW-PLA (eg. ColorFabb)
Suggested Print Settings:
The Printed parts should be ~165g in weight.
An optional 4mm 30cm Carbon rod can be used to stiffen the wings.
The Control Surface linkages use 2mm Carbon Rods. (1x20cm for Elevators, 2x19.5cm for Ailerons)
The Model needs 3x9g servos, 2x20A ESCs and a 4 ch receiver.
Recommended battery size: 4S 800mAh-1000mAh

The Wing parts will require supports in the area of the servo cutout. other parts can be printed without supports.
