Description
A container and lid for vape pens that are roughly 14.4cm tall and 1.1cm diameter.
This was made really quickly for a friend; the model files have errors like not being manifold, however PrusaSlicer can repair it enough to print without issue. Sorry about that.
The tube itself is a good candidate for the use of a variable layer-height: the body needs no precision, however the top which has threads benefit from a smaller layer-height. The lid, which should be printed with a lower layer height (say 0.2mm) surprisingly enough, prints best with the threads facing the printbed and with supports. My PrusaSlicer project uses variable height for the tube and organic supports for the lid, which printed very well. I used PLA for my print, but PETG is probably better if heat is a concern. Of course, use at your own risk.
Keep in mind that the cylinder has very small surface area on the printbed: make sure you have good adhesion. For me, a 1cm wide brim was sufficient to keep it in place.
Also keep in mind that you might destroy the threads if you screw the lid on too tight. It's not brittle, but probably won't survive force.
