this is a basic card holder inspired by Kalos Pokedex
the card “floats” in the frame - made by 2 pieces of acrylic and a thin sheet of plastic that holds the position of the card in relation to the frame
it is primarily made to be used on multi color printers (like MMU from prusa, some toolchangers… in tandem with a laser cutter/engraver) but you can also print it in sigle color and paint it yourself or leave it as is (you can see in the pictures that I have tried to print it in a woodfill variant)
the uploaded version has a dxf file uploaded for laser cutting - version for ultra pro penny sleeves
the dxf file doesn't contain the engraving that yo can see in my pictures (grass and psychic types)
DESIGN DECISIONS
it had to be modeled so that it didn't need any supports
the card should look like it is suspended in the air like in the the representations of the pokemon in this type of pokedex
the position of the card should be fixed in a way that it does not interfere with the transparency of the design and it should be flexible (accomodating various dimensions of sleeves
the acrylic sheets are each 2 mm thick
PRINT SETTINGS
there are no need for supports
General settings:
0,15 - 0,25 mm layer height
5-10% infill (also works with no infill)
2 perimeters
ASSEMBLY
you will need to
print 2 identical parts for top and bottom of the frame
laser cut (or by some other method - CNC, hand tools) 2 basic rectangles (dxf in the files) without the center hole - acrylic or some other tipe of plastic that is 2 mm thick
laser cut (or cut by hand) 1 rectangle with the center hole in the dimension of the sleeve that your card is in - I recommend you use a sheet of transparent plastic that is as close to the thickness of the sleeved card as possible
first - place the thin sheet of plastic onto the acrylic plate and center the sleeved card on it
place the second sheet of acrylic on top of that and make sure that the edges of all three sheets are aligned properly
carefully slide the acrylic into the top and bottom 3D printed part
