Description

This is a plastic version of the classic experiment called newton's disc, where a disc with different colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet) is spinning very fast making all of the colors appear like a single one. This particular design (although extremely simple) is a really nice and robust version of the experiment (since every version so far uses cardboard and paper) making it an excellent fidget toy. If you want to learn more about how it works and the history behind you can read more here.

Parts needed:

1X NewtonDisc (if you print this with multiple colors please upload an image with it I am curious as to how it looks)

1X 1meter 3mm rope

2X Handle (Optional, you can use 2 ballpoint pens too)

Instructions:

1)Pass one side from the central hole of the newton disc and then pass it through the other hole from the other side

1b)If you don't have a multi material printer like me, you can print a paper with the image containing the colors like this or you for a much better final quality can try to paint them on

2)Tie the rope making it a loop

3)Pass the loop into the handles

4)Twist the disc about 10-20 times

5)Start pulling and pushing the handles, to make the disc spin ultra fast

6)Have fun!

Recommended settings:
10% infil

5 perimeters

P.S Although the disc spins very fast it's not very dangerous and can easily be stopped with an adult hand even at high rpm, however I do not know the exact rpm it spins. I have recorded it spinning with a the high speed setting on my phone's camera and I am unable to determine the exact rpm, if anyone could measure it please leave a comment, I am curious.
