Description

I use this VINDSTYRKA air quality sensor from IKEA, mainly because of its price and accuracy.  It is all connected to my Home Assistant and automatically turns on the air filter when the VOCs or Particle levels get too high, turning it off when back down to acceptable levels.  It also turns on the filter after the print is done for 5 min to clear the air.

But its also great just to get a visual check of the air quality inside your enclosure, including temperature and humidity.

Since the sensor cannot have its back-side blocked, it needs to be mounted somewhat away from the side and back walls of the enclosure.  

Assembly: 

  1. Press a M3 nut into the WallMount using pliers. You can also use the bolt itself to tighten the bolt into the mount.  It needs to be a snug fit to prevent it from falling out during assembly.
  2. Hold the mount into place and insert a M3 x 8 mm bolt from the outside of the enclosure. Here I stuck my hand through the hole for the PSU.  Tighten until snug.
  3. Press the tray into the arm.  There are two little extrusions in the arm that lock into the hole in the tray.  Make sure the extrusions are aligned properly (tray should rotate quite easily.
  4. Optional: Place the sensor into the tray and feed the USB cable through the cable clip on the underside of the arm.  
  5. The arm is then placed onto the mount and is held in place by gravity.
  6. Thats it!
