The Pastamatic gear cover will protect your gears from debris and your filament from grease slinging. Greased gears improve their longevity and reduces friction, and the gear cover also protects your gears from a accidental spool drop, all while matching the look and feel of the original frame. It is also a good use case for Translucent PETG.
This remix uses measurements from the original GeckoPrime Pastamatic frame design and measurements from AndyThilo's Target Clips for the cutout version.
Updates / Next Steps:
Looking forward to Pastamatic Community Feedback on areas to improve
Features:
Reduces risk of gear grease slinging on to your spools
Low Profile and does not interfere with Pastamatic function in any way
Protects gears and grease from dust/debris or an accidental spool drop
No gear removal required to install
Compatible with stock Pastamatic frame and most plug designs
Range of Compatibility /w Target Spool Clips
Both No Cutout and Cutout version compatible with Schiko's Clips
One Piece Cover is strong and aesthetically pleasing.
Split Piece Cover improves access to gears for repair/maintenance.
Takes Approximately 1.5 hours to print a cover or two halves on Bambu Printers
Materials Needed to assemble:
Stock Pasta Matic Plugs work great, also works with alternative screw based plug designs, thickness of teh cover is only 2mm so it should not interfere with these designs.
Assembly Notes:
Once printed, remove your plugs.
Grease your gears (easiest to do without the shroud assembled), but still possible from the open side.
Apply the shroud and reinsert plugs.
Give it a spin, with significantly reduced risk of slinging grease on your prized filaments or your workspace.
Print Profile Notes:
Important Print Profile Notes:
If you are a Bambu user I highly suggest using the bambu presliced 3mf files, supports are preconfigured for clip cutout version, and seams are correctly positioned for the split gear cover.
If you are not a Bambu user:
Add Snug 30% Supports
When printing split model make sure the seam is not on the shell wall where the two connect, this guarantees best fitment of the two halves

Translucent PETG Instructions:
For using Translucent PETG I suggest the following print profile settings:
0.6mm Nozzzle @ 0.18mm Nozzle First Layer, 0.3mm Layer Height all other layers
0.4mm Nozzle @ 0.16mm Nozzle First Layer, 0.24mm Layer Height all other Layers
2 Wall Loops
0 Top Shell Layers, and 0 Bottom Shell Layers
99% Spares infill Density
aligned rectilinear infill
Nozzle: Suggest 0.4mm nozzle for precision fit, 0.6mm for translucent PETG Wall Loops: 4 wall loops on 0.4mm nozzle Layer Height: Suggest 0.16 or 0.20 to maximize strength and reduce overhangs (0.20mm default ) Infill:
15% gyroid, however 4 wall loops and 5 top and bottom layers, prints this model without any infill
Brim: No brim default, not needed on a large flat model like this Material: PLA, PETG, PETG-HS, PETG Translucent all tested perfectly Color: Any customize to your own look and feel. Print Orientation: Print with large contact area facing down Supports: Normal Auto Supports, Snug Style, 30 degree threshold angle 3d Printers: Profiles added should be compatible with any 180mm and larger printer. A1 Mini can only print split profile. Filament amount required: ~77g of filament for one cover.
