Description
Quick Reminder: Proceed at your own risk! Always exercise caution when working with electrical components. For more insights on this upgrade, refer to 802Garage's “very relevant discussion on Voron bed heating” and Spooknik's Qidi Plus4 SSR Upgrade write-up available on the Qidi Plus4 Community Wiki created by Stew675 and Madam Vega. These resources provide valuable perspectives to consider before deciding to implement this upgrade.
Update 10/29/2024 06:24 EST: Uploaded a new model for SSR's mounted on low-profile heat sinks like this.
Update 10/28/2024 07:28 EST: I uploaded two additional models and re-uploaded the orginal with a few minor tweaks made. I also removed the wiring diagram as I did not intend this to be a tutorial as there are many factors involved in this process that I am not qualified to advise on. If you are interested in learning more about this situation or the reasons behind the need/want for this component, I emplore you to check out Spooknik's Qidi Plus 4 SSR Upgrade writeup on the Qidi Plus4 Community Wiki.
The models uploaded are named as such:
1. (RECOMMENDED) “SSR - w/ heat sink” for SSR's being mounted on a heat sink like this
2. (RECOMMENDED) “SSR - w/ Low-pro heat sink” for SSR's being mounting on a low-profile heat sink like this
2. “SSR - w/o heat sink - w/o tab” for SSR's both without a stabilizing notch above the screw holes and not being mounted on a heat sink.
3. “SSR - w/o heat sink - w/ tab” for SSR's with a stabilizing notch above the screw holes but still not mounted on a heat sink.
Notes:
Original Post 10/26/2024: Not one to sit around waiting for a “fix” from Qidi regarding the infamous blown chamber heater SSR boards on the Plus4 120VAC. So with guidence from Spooknik, Stew and a few others on the Official Qidi Discord I ordered a replacement Omron relay. However, while it’s en route, I opted to install an offbrand InkBird sourced from Amazon. Both seem to have the same form factor, so fingers crossed they’ll be interchangeable!
If you’re in the same situation and eager to get back to printing, this model is here to help! Simply power down your machine, remove the back panel, disconnect and unmount the faulty relay board (and its mounting plate), then pop the new relay mounted to this adapter in place. Voilà – you're ready to roll!
