Useless people tried to break into our Kidde Keysafe lockbox but only succeeded in breaking off the “clear” button. This is a replacement button and shaft. This button is larger than the original (I didn't have the original to reference when I made it) but this actually makes it much easier to operate, the original clear button was a finger-hurter.
This was designed for the Kidde Keysafe Pro 001267, but the mechanism appears to be identical across all Keysafe lockboxes - the Pro just has a larger lid/box moulded around it. A Printables user has confirmed it works on the common Kidde AccessPoint 001015 Keysafe.
To print:
- Print the shaft flat on its side.
- The button can be printed in any orientation, but printing it back-down will result in a ridged surface from the layer lines, which improves grip for fingers.
To install (sorry, no photos…):
- Remove two opposing screws in the back cover.
- Remove the other two screws. Caution - numerous springs underneath, keep the cover held down as you remove the screws.
- Once all screws are removed, gently release pressure on the cover to decompress the springs.
- Remove the screw at the top (holds the “open” button).
- Optional: Remove the 10 spring/mechanism sets. If any top pieces come off, they pop back in easily. Otherwise, try to lift the silver sliding piece over them.
- Remove the silver sliding piece.
- Insert the printed shaft through the appropriate space in black piece running down the center. Press until flush or nearly so (mine had about 0.5mm sticking up, did not cause an issue).
- Reassemble.
- Put a drop or two of superglue in the hole on the back of the button, press onto shaft.
