Description
I liked the model that used a rod or dowel for strength and the size of it, but prefered the grip from the other, so I combined them.
The orginal says to use a ½ in rod, but I found a 7/16 in. dowel worked best. I added some extra options for the end incase you don't like the rounded end or taper from large at the end to thinner at the bottom.
The middle piece is the same diameter as the straight ends and the bottom of the other two. You can use it to extend the length of the bo staff or split the grip in half in your slicer and place it between each piece for a split grip look that sometimes appears in TMNT.
The different options for the end and the middle extension piece should allow you to scale or cut on the Z axis to create a staff of any length no matter what printer you have. If you do scale on the X and Y though note that the 7/16 dowel will no longer work and the sheath will not fit properly anymore unless scaled or modified.
The sheath is setup to use a 1 inch wide strap. If you plan to use the sheath I would suggest getting a strap that is long enough to go over your shoulder and through a 2-3 belt loops on your pants. Without going through the belt loops it tends to fall to the side when the staff is in it. I hope to remix a turtle shell that has the sheath build in to complete the costume, but please let me know if there are any other modifications wanted.
Pictured is the staff with the original ends plus two middle pieces scaled to half height.
