This is a flash modifier for the Sony RX100M7  camera that allows you to hold the pop-up  flash upright for bouncing the light for photography.
It works wonderfully for softening harsh shadows while illuminating the subject with an appearance of natural light. The flash modifier attaches on top of the camera into two pieces and allows you to lock the flash in an upright position. When finished, simply push the flash back out and it'll resume its normal position.
Build instructions:Â
I recommend using polycarbonate, a PC blend, or PETG for making this model.Â
- Print with the flat parts facing downward
- Outer wall count: 4
- Infill: 40%
- Ironing optional. I leave it off.
- No supports needed
- Regular 0.4mm nozzle works fine. If you want it extra fine, 0.2mm nozzle

Assembly Instructions:
Items needed-
- 4 small magnets 4mmx2mm in diameter: Amazon Link
- 3M adhesive (Double-sided tape): Amazon Link
- T-Rex Super Glue double sided tape: Amazon Link
- Hot glue or gel superglue for gluing magnets: Amazon Link
- Small wet rag to wipe away excess glue.
Â
- The larger printed piece first, press-fit one magnet into the mounting hole so the surface of the magnet is flush with the plastic.
- Tab a tiny amount of super glue from the other side into the cavity (the inside part of the magnet you just pressed in.
- Press fit the other magnet into the other side until it's flush with the plastic. You should have two magnets installed that are flush with the plastic with a small amount of superglue contained between them.
- Take the remaining two magnets (that are not installed) and stick them to each side of the installed magnets of the larger piece. Using a sharpie, mark the backs of these magnets so you can tell what side needs to be installed inside the cavity of the other piece. This is to make sure you're installing the magnets in a way they won't repel each other.
- On the smaller printed piece, dab a small amount of super glue (the size of a flea) on the inside holes of the magnet-holder cavity.
- Press-fit the magnets, one at a time, with the sharpie-marked backside of the magnet facing INSIDE the plastic body. I recommend getting the magnet started and using a needle nose pliers to clamp it inside. Make sure the magnets are flush with the plastic.
- Install the 3M adhesive on the larger printer piece flat side, and the T-Rex super glue tape on the bottom of the smaller piece. I recommend unravelling a bit of tape, sticking the flat sides down, and cutting around the perimeter so the adhesive fits the profile of the plastic while leaving the other side of the tape cover intact.

Installation Instructions:
- Take the larger printed piece first: with the Sony flash remaining in its housing (not popped-out), carefully unpeel the other side of the 3M adhesive and place it carefully over the top of the pop-up flash. The printed piece should match the shape of the flash head exactly, so align the edges with each other.
- Ensure flash modifier piece is attached firmly to the flash head, and that the pop-up flash can open as normal without resistance.
- Now, with the pop up flash DEPLOYED, connect the smaller piece to the larger piece you just installed with the magnets. We're installing it this way to make sure alignment is perfect.
- With the two pieces still magnetically connected, carefully unpeel the adhesive covering  of the smaller printed piece of the T-Rex glue tape so it's sticky part is exposed.
- Gently tilt the flash UPRIGHT Â until the smaller printed piece reached to the top of the camera body (the lip on the top of the camera), and guide it so that the flat part of the piece with the sticky tape sits on the top of the camera lip. Press down firmly to get the sticky tape a good grip on the camera
- Now, gently disconnect the two magnetically attached pieces by gently push the flash head forward. The magnets should disconnect and the two pieces should be in an ideal position to connect magnetically when you want to deploy the flash upright.
Â
Let the adhesive cure on the camera for a couple of hours, ideally overnight.Â
Â
Whenever you want to deploy the modifier, simply pop up the flash head and tilt the flash upwards until the two pieces connect magnetically. There should be a tiny bit of friction from the printed pieces and the magnets will reinforce the hold, giving you the ability to use the EVF or one handed operation with the flash in a bounce position.
Â
Enjoy!
