Description

The Max van is big and rather top-heavy, but with 4x4 drivetrain can still be surprisingly agile in harsh terrain and  a good base for “Expedition” style model - especially, when intended as a “support" vehicle, carrying spare parts and batteries in its generous cargo space.

But it missed one significant feature of off-road expedition vehicles, and that is the external mount for spare wheel - so I drafted my own.

The holder fits over the right door (because the left ones have the license plate), but if you really want, you might be able to use it on the opposite side, if you mirror all the parts. There is enough clearance to open the doors wide for comfortable cargo access (although not in the almost 180° range of unmodified body) and an added function of propping the doors closed with a little extra force, if assembled and set up correctly.

The spare wheel arm utilizes the same M2 bolts you needed for the actual built (in 6,10,12 and 16mm lenghts) + one “cylindrical socket head” M3x6 for the same mechanism, that locks all the other doors - that means you also need to print one more “door lock” part from the original files.

Bolts for both the hinges and the “lock carrier” parts are attached from the inside of the body - you need to drill 2+2+2 2mm holes, for which I included two very helpful “drill helper” parts - the one for the hinges fits in the door hinge sockets (which you must obviously remove before using),  the “lock” one centers around the symbolic lock shaped into the door and its left edge - the assembly should be pretty straightforward.
If your hinges are both the same color, you can tell them apart by the bolt head counterbore: the bottom one screws in from the bottom.

I designed it for the long Model14 body, but it fits on the Model15 short van as well, big thanks to @Ivan_167373 for testing it!

Enjoy, and happy driving!
