Textured Glue Roller

This is something for the wood workers and carpenters out there. When you need to glue large pieces of wood you need something to apply the glue. And exactly for this task is my printable Textured Glue Roller.

It has an exchangeable roller that comes in two sizes - large and small. The roller is made of TPU95 to give it some squishiness. This helps not only to apply the glue but cleaning the roller, as well.

Print preparation:
Make sure that your print bed is clean and grease-free and use quality brand filaments.

Material recommendation:
For the roller surface you will need TPU. Any quality brand will do. The softer the TPU the better the roller works but the more difficult the material is to print. I am using Sunlu TPU95.
The roller inlay is simply made with PLA - nice and easy.
But for the handle I recommend PETG. PLA is quite brittle and the snap-on mechanism might break. PETG is more flexible. You can still use PLA for the handle if you want but then you are on your own. My print profile (Bamu Studio / Orca Slicer) is for PETG. If you do not like the two-colour scheme of the handle you can just use the same colour for both handle parts.

Print settings:
Print the handle with PETG. Use the standard settings but lower all speeds by 30%. This will give you a nice result. 
The roller inlay can be printed with PLA and standard settings. It is a very simple part.
The TPU surface must be printed slowly for best results (<100mm/s). Use only two walls and lightning infill. This will give you the right squishiness.

Assembly:
Slide the TPU part on the roller inlay. It is a tight fit but assembling the two parts should not be a problem. Watch for the correct orientation of those parts - the collar on the inlay must match the notch on the TPU part. Then slide the assembled roller on the handle.

Usage:
Apply a good amount of glue on your piece of wood and use your printed roller to spread the glue evenly.

Cleaning:
If you are using water dissolvable wood glue (D2), just rinse the roller in water while the glue is still wet.
For waterproof glue (D3) you can let the glue dry and then pull it of the roller. Squishing the TPU part helps to peel off the glue.
I have never tested this roller with PU-glue (D4) so I cannot give you any hints here.
