Description

Please only print if you are OK with testing.

If you're familiar with my previous replacement for the stock Qidi Plus4 auto belt tensioners here, these are an attempt at an improvment on those. This design utilizes the stock spring itself but allows the user to adjust the tension with a screw. This design was thought of and reqested by stew675 and spooknik in the Qidi Plus4 discord server and should allow for even more smooth resolution when tensioning.

Pre-Assembly Notes:

  • The models were designed to be printed upright at .2 layer height. Please do so.
  • You can use the stock insert piece instead of the included “insert” model.
  • The tension starts at zero and allows up to 20 mm of pressure to be applied to the spring.
  • DO NOT PRINT OUT OF PLA! I printed this model out of ASA. ABS, Nylon, PET(G) should also be suitable
  • If you are interested in using Klippian Shake and Tune on your Plus4, a user by the name of Stew675 has made a fork for us to use. You can find it with instructions here
  • This is still a WIP. I think the concept is on but I expect some updates and revisions. Your opinions and inputs are very much appreciated. However, please come with hard data. “I feel like” is not hard data.
  • Be aware and pay attention when removing the stock tensioners. They are spring loaded so things can go flying fast and far.
  • I have a belt tension meter. You can print one or buy one. There are many of both to choose from. The most important part is that the belts are the same tension (which is why I don't like the springs)

Hardware required for each tensioner assembly:
    x1 - M5 x 35mm (socket or button head)
    x1 - M5 nut
    x2 - M3 x 16mm (socket or button head)
