Set of connector hubs for creation 2 frequency geodesic dome yurt. I designed it as a shelter for my daughter, (yeah I could use couple of chairs and blanket but I wanted to try something new :) ) Dome is usable also as a small foil greenhouse on your garden. My hubs are designed for rods with 6 mm diameter, I uploaded versions with different hole diameters so you can choose which one will work the best for you and struts material which you choose. I personally used rods made of PA6 (6.6 mm holes dia) and another and stiffer version with wooden rods (6.2 mm holes dia). Dome is designed with great help of web Domerama and their calculators http://www.domerama.com/calculators/2v-geodesic-dome-calculator/ . Because 2V dome has height approximately about half of diameter I decided to use third set of struts in base area to heighten this baby yurt. Its completely up to you how large dome (how long struts) you will do. In any case you will need 6 pcs of penta connectors, 10 pcs of hexa connectors, 5 pcs of AB hubs, 5 pcs of BA hubs and 10 pcs of base joints.

Next numbers are only for yurt which I did. So diameter 128 cm and 115 cm in height. You will need three lengths of rods. In my models are embossed labels A, B and C for easier assembly.

Length A is 350 mm and you will need 30 pieces

Length B is 398 mm and you will need 44 pieces (45 if you want full dome without entrance)

Length C is 500 mm and you will need 10 pieces. You can use shorter or longer, its up to you. Those are for enhancing height of dome.

In my case I ordered 50 metres of wooden rods (1 m per piece) and because I wanted to try more variants of C rods I cut them subsequently:

From the first 10 metres I did 20 pcs of A rods and I got 10 pieces of 300 mm C rods. From the second 10 metres I did 10 pcs of A rods, 10 pcs of B rods and I got 10 pcs of 250 mm C rods. Another 17 metres I cut to 34 pieces of B rods and I got 17 pcs of 200 mm C rods. Then I started assembly and tried all lengths of C struts. I had feeling that it is still not enough so I cut another 5 metres to halfs and finally used C struts 500 mm long. Rest of wooden rods I used as spare parts.

Now I will buy just some blankets in JYSK or IKEA.

Future plans and updates:

#1 I want to create some kind of clamps or clips so you can use pasteboards instead of blankets.

#2 I want to modify design of base hubs for usage with pegs. Then you can secure dome to the ground in case that you will use it as foil greenhouse

#3 enlarge all hubs for usage with 10 mm and maybe 20 mm diameter of rods so you can build larger dome with aluminum rods.
