Description
3d printing is an exercise in failure, persistence and endurance. This trophy celebrates all the things that wasted so many hours for 3d printing engineers and enthusiasts.
There are two separate instances of layer shifting
A piece knocked loose by an errant nozzle move.
Stringing due to insufficient retraction at the base of the towers.
Four “mouse ears” fighting to keep the corner from lifting. The corner won.
Many of the past trophies for the “3D Printing Industry Awards” are beautiful art installations, crafted with real skill and artistic flair.
I have neither of these things.
What I do have is the insatiable desire to get the damn printer to work. To make the thing I need. To get the plastic monkey of failure off my back. This is a totem in honor of those that did not quit, that pushed passed the failed prints, lost hours and the occasional shop fire to achieve success.
