Hanging File Rod Holder for Ikea Effektiv File Cabinet Drawer

I lost one of the hanging file rods for my Ikea Effektiv file cabinet drawer. Without the rod, the cabinet is rather useless, and buying a replacement rod from Ikea is no longer possible. So, I went to my local hardware store and found a steel (or aluminium) rod of similar diameter (6mm or ¼"). I cut the rod to 35 cm in length (13 ¾") and printed two rod holders. The rod holders slip over each end of the rod and stay in place with friction. Some minor alignment adjustments might be needed to insert the peg parts of the rod holders into the file cabinet holes.

Parts needed: 

• One or more steel or aluminium rods, 6mm or ¼" diameter, minimum 35cm or 13 ¾" long,
• Something to cut the rod, if needed, hacksaw will do. Metal file to remove any burrs.

Printing instructions

• 0.1 layer height
• 3 or 4 perimeters
• 20% gyroid infill
• PLA or PETG
• consider using 0.25mm nozzle, if you have one
