Description
The inner diameter of the cardboard tube of the ‘old’ refills (held together with three tiewraps) is 85 mm. The inner diameter of the cardboard tube of the ‘new’ refills (held together with four plastic strips) is 82 mm. In both cases the cardboard tube is 58 mm high.
I wanted to leave the tiewraps or strips on until the last moment. Just couldn't find the right (simple) spool for this refill filament, so I devised something myself. Just sandwich the spool between the two 'spool sides'. Cut and remove the strips and screw in the two parts of the screw tube.
The open design of the sides allows any filament dryer to do its job properly (and saves filament and time when printing the sides, haha).
If you're in a hurry: by adding some additional tapes in the spots vacated by the wraps, you can print without screwing the tube in (see last photo). Of course, the roll then can't rotate as freely on its axis, but it might save your project deadline.
