Oski the Bear

Summary

Oski the Bear: The official mascot of the University of California, Berkeley aka Cal. With the iconic hands behind the back pose, the Oski model is ~ 250 mm tall. Hands and arms, pants, and shoes were remixed from @reddadsteve Fred Flintstone, Wally, George Jetson, respectively. Go Bears!

Print Instructions

• Resolution: 0.2 mm unless noted.

Brown: PolyTerra PLA Earth Brown

• Head (Fuzzy skin and Cura support used for ears and face plate)

Tan: Paramount Sandstone

• Face (Fuzzy skin and Cura support used for edge of face)

Yellow: Ziro Fluorescent Yellow

• Torso (support was used for the leg holes)
• Arms L and R (Left arm has built in supports for the arm bands)
• Elbows L and R

Be sure to minimize warping on arms and elbows to get a seamless connection.

Assembly

Head: Assemble each eye first by slipping the white part of the eye into the black part. It’s a tight fit so no glue is necessary. Snap the eyes, nose and smile to the face. Again, my print did not require glue to hold them in place. The eyes and mouth rattle around a bit, but they don’t come out. Glue the face to the head.

Torso: Oski, the C, and the buttons need to be glued to the torso as do the arm bands to the left arm. The arm bands are a little tricky to get into the groove, but they do fit. Glue together the hands first using a pin; then glue the hands to the either arm. Put a pin in the handless arm and glue it to the torso. When that is dry, glue the other arm to the torso, connecting the arms together. Save gluing the elbows on until the end because the flat surfaces are excellent for clamping. Pre-load the pins in the elbows and arms to be sure gluing works well.

Shoes: Glue the stripes first and then add the laces.

Oski Glue the head in first to the torso. The ball and socket joint give some wiggle room to glue the head at a rakish angle (if desired). Once the head is in place, glue the pants and shoes at the same time.
