Introduction

Bring a touch of nostalgia and fun to your desk, kitchen, or party with this Dual-Chamber Candy Dispenser. Designed for simplicity and style, this dispenser features two compartments and rotating knobs to easily dispense your favorite candy. It’s perfect for candy-coated chocolates, fruit-flavored chewy candies, or any small candies. The clear viewing window keeps the candy visible, and its compact size ensures it fits anywhere.

This dispenser is extra special because it was designed by my 9-year-old daughter using TinkerCad as her very first 3D design project! Before venturing into 3D printing, she initially crafted a similar dispenser out of cardboard, experimenting with its mechanics and functionality. Watching her creativity come to life in this printed version has been a proud moment—and we hope it brings as much joy to you as it has to our family.

Whether you're new to 3D printing or a seasoned maker, this project is both fun and functional. The separate compartments allow you to load two different types of candy for variety and excitement!

Build Instructions

Printing the Parts:

  • Print the following parts:
    • Main frame
    • The left and right knobs
    • Rear plate
    • Top cover
    • Two sliding dispenser mechanisms (print this part twice)
  • Use clear acrylic sheets (8 cm x 8 cm) for the viewing windows to ensure candy visibility. Alternatively, you can print the windows using transparent filament for a fully 3D-printed design.
  • Print the knobs and text accents in contrasting colors for a vibrant, polished look.

Assembly:

  • Attach the transparent windows to the inside of the main frame using a small amount of model glue. Ensure the glue is evenly spread for a secure hold.
  • Insert the sliding dispenser mechanisms into the body slots. Make sure they move freely without obstruction.
  • Attach the knobs to the front of the sliding dispensers using model glue. Ensure the knobs are securely attached and aligned.
  • Slide the rear plate into place. Optionally, you can apply model glue to secure it permanently.

Loading the Candy:

  • Remove the top lid or load the candies through the designated compartments.
  • Turn the knobs to test the dispensing flow. Adjust as needed to ensure smooth operation.
  • Enjoy dispensing your candy—and don’t forget to share!

Print Tips

  • Material: PLA is recommended for its ease of use and durability. For the example shown, Prusament PLA Pristine White and Prusament PLA Blend Ms. Pink were used.
  • Layer Height: 0.25 mm for a good balance of detail and speed.
  • Infill:
    • 25% grid for the rear plate and main frame.
    • 15% grid for the sliding dispenser mechanisms, knobs, and top cover.
    • A lower infill may also suffice.
  • Supports:
    • Use organic supports for the main frame and sliding dispenser mechanisms.
    • Use snug supports for the knobs and top cover. Don't forget to remove these supports after printing. They can be easily carved out with a small knive.
    • Sorry… the candy dispenser is not yet designed in such a way supports are not needed.
  • Brim, Skirts, Rafts: Not needed.

The example was printed on a Prusa MK4S with a 0.4mm nozzle using the "Structural" speed profile in PrusaSlicer.
