Create your own stamps with a laser cutter!
This is a project from CoMakingSpace, you can find further information on the wiki, around designing and making custom 3x3 cm stamps using rubber and a 3D-printed handle. This is a fantastic way to add a personal touch to your projects, cards, and invitations, and a great project to introduce kids to laser cutting/3d printing.
What you'll need:
- Laser cutter (duh)
- Laser rubber: A special type of rubber designed for laser cutting.
- 3D-printed handle: The handle attached to this post.
- Design software: To create your stamp designs. Inkscape, Illustrator, GIMP, etc.
- Basic laser cutting knowledge: Familiarity with laser cutter settings and safety procedures.
The process:
- Design your stamp: Draw your own or use the template from the wiki page. 30x30 mm.
- Prepare your design: Convert your design into a 2-bit image, invert the colors, and mirror it horizontally.
- Laser cutting: Use the appropriate laser cutter software to engrave your design onto the laser rubber. CoMakingSpace members should check the wiki.
- Attach the handle: 3D Print the handle and glue the stamp to it
- Test and enjoy: Ink your stamp and start creating!
