Description
We don't usually have avocados. So in this rare occation, I want to try to get the seeds grow. Into the Printables to find nice float for my seeds. There was soooo many nice ones to choose but this time I really wanted the heart boat! I downloaded the model and opened in slicer, sliced it and was really unhappy of the amount of the filament it needed. I mean, my red is almost gone. So I decided to make some hack job vase mode version of it!
First warning! I am not in any way good at vase mode prints, so I finally decided to just print it empty, that is 0 top layers and 0% infill. It's a good way to make prints, you get to control how thick you want the walls to be.
Second warning! I printed the first one, accidentally yellow, with 4 bottom layers, then thought that it's a bit much and dropped it to 3 bottom layers and it didn't hold water anymore(2nd photo)! The claws that hold the seed are a bit steep so the perimeters get holes between them. I'm pretty sure the hardcore vasemode print people know how to deal with it, but I don't. So I recommend 4 bottom layers, and still look for some leak. Mine didn't leak with 4 bottom layers. Someone could also do something to the claws that hold the seed, but I got what I wanted and am pretty done with this now.
I do include my project file here if you wanna try to do something.
Oh, about the models! As I said, at first I thought I'll make a vase mode version, so it's cut to able the vase mode. Then I thought I might want a version you can open, so you can get roots out without harming them. Well, I lost interest of that but the files are still there. You should be fine printing them, they just need some kind of clip to hold the parts together.
And then there is the whole version, because in the end I didn't want to print it vase mode so I didn't need the cut there anymore.
Anyway! This way you can control the amount of filament you're using here, even if you scale the model to fit better different sized seeds!
