Keyboard Lap Tray

To go along with the IKEA Kivik Couch Armrest Table that I recently designed, I've created this modular lap tray for my keyboard. Now I'm able to lounge on my sofa (even with a cat on my lap!) with my keyboard and mouse, and can use my computer from the TV. After a day of sitting at a desk, playing PC games at my desk isn't as appealing.

Like the prior design, this is designed with modularity in mind. You can build a simple straight board, and L shape like I have, or even go all out and use 2 corner pieces for a U shape that surrounds both your sides. This is accomplished with the same connector pieces used in the armrest table design, thanks go out to Czex “Fusion God” for their model of the connector and hole.

As shown in the cutaway CAD screenshot, each board has empty lines inside so that it isn't entirely infill. I believe the extra interior lines will add to strength and durability.

Module Options

The full and corner models are 180mm x 180mm. The half model is 180mm x 90mm. The edge model is 180mm x 50mm.

Printing Instructions

All STLs are oriented correctly. While I'd like to print the top surface face down, to make use of textured build plates, the curved fillet doesn't print well this way.

Do not use supports.

Highly recommend to print connector pieces in PETG. Test pieces were done in PLA, and one of them quickly broke. It would be functional, but expect some failures once you disconnect modules.
