As described above - reuse a piece of your Xmas tree to create a keepsake or decoration for years to come!
Instructions:
Keep and dry completely a piece of your Xmas tree (ideally larger diameter near the base of the tree). I usually wait 12-months but I'm sure it could be done quicker.
Saw a piece off the end of the tree stump, around 10-15mm thick (1/2in).
Drill a hole approx. 8mm (1/4in) in the top, being careful not to get too close to the side otherwise you may crack the timber.
Print the model at 100% infill (I used PLA). Scale it up or down to suit the size of your timber slice.
Using a bench vice and a separate piece of backing timber (as vice soft jaws so as to not mark the main timber piece), insert and tighten the piece to imprint the timber with the stamp.
Adjust the position of the stamp within the vice if required to get the stamp to indent consistently.
Sand both sides of the piece using an orbital sander (you could do it by hand, but it will take a long time!). Progress from 80 to 240 grit (approx.).
Apply as many coats of whatever oil or stain you prefer (I used Scandinavian Oil).
Add a small piece of string through the hole to allow you to hang the piece.
