Description
Octahedral Radar Reflector mount
Not everyone agrees on this but it is my opinion that these reflectors are the best money can buy. Passive radar reflectors that is. Funnily enough these are also some of the cheapest ones. So why does not everyone have one of these?
I think they look to cheap, are a pain to mount propperly and you need to keep them away from lines and sails at all costs, these things are sharp!
So I wanted it far out of the way, mounted in the correct orientation. I made this plate which uses 8 M6x25 bolts with Nyloc nuts. Then you can take some M8 threaded rod and build upwards from there. I did it in a bosun seat but if you have the option, tackle this job with the mast down.
My reflector is a 340mm one. I paid 18 euro's for the reflector in the Canary Islands.
Disclaimer
My models are always tested on my own boat. We are currently cruising to the Caribbean and you can therefor assume that we load up the part properly. It is however your own responsibility to use these parts when heading out to sea. Use common sense and print spares if you are not able to print onboard. Especially on longer passages.
Remix
Please remix however you like. If you are not able to design your own parts I do offer a modification service to those in need. A contribution for my effort is however expected. Send me a message on Noforgeinland and I am sure we will figure something out.
