Description
This is a hose caddy and accessory holder I made for my workshop. It can handle roughly 20 feet of 4" dust collector hose. It has accessory holders for a floor sweep, dusting brush, crevice tool and 2 wand extensions in the middle. There's also an adapter that adapts Rockler DustRight fittings to standard 2-½" Shop Vac accessories.
You can size this up or down to meet your needs. Check the STEP assembly file for full details on assembly. I used 8.5" long 4" diameter PVC pipes (4.5" OD) for the ‘extensions’ and a 46" long board for the main structure. This worked well for a roughly 20' long 4" hose.
I've included only STEP files to allow people to modify them for their own designs. Since many of the files have large radiuses, STL tends to create facets along the edges unless you export them as huge files.
Most parts will need to be printed in ASA as there's stress on them which will cause PLA to deform and PETG is crap and no one should use it. Check the video below for more information on my journey designing everything and details about the assembly.
For settings, 0.2mm will work just fine with standard ‘speed’ settings as long as you use the right filament. The ‘tabs’ can be PLA, they have no real stress on them. The cups need supports, use organic or standard, just around the outside rim. Everything else prints without supports.
The ball spring detents are GREAT. This whole project was just an excuse to use them and they worked perfect. BUY THEM!
