3D scan of a bust of the Austrian geologist and first director of the Natural History Museum Vienna, Ferdinand von Hochstetter (1829–1884). The bust is made of plaster and is mounted on a dark turned wood base.
The original was commissioned by the Austro-Hungarian Geographical Society in 1881, which celebrated its 25th anniversary, for its former president of many years. The bust was made by Viktor Tilgner (1844–1896).
The bust is not on display and can be viewed by appointment, but a bigger version of the bust is on display at the entrance to the exhibition hall 30 of the museum
