This project combines festive aesthetics with practical functionality, making it a must-have for the holiday season. It's designed to be 3D-printed easily and assembled seamlessly. Here are its standout features:
Modular Design: Each tier of the tree is a hexagonal/circular coaster with a festive design. The pieces stack onto a central stand to form the complete Christmas tree.
Customization with OpenSCAD: The included OpenSCAD script allows you to create custom circular coasters. Add names or holiday messages with your choice of font and size for a personal touch.
Printability: The model is optimized for FDM 3D printing and fits on standard-sized printers. You can experiment with multi-color or multi-material prints to enhance the festive look.
For multicolor prints with a single extruder, add a Color Change M600 on PrusaSlicer. If you have MMU3 or XL, give it a try as your best decoration for this tree.
Practical and Decorative: Not only is this tree a charming holiday centerpiece, but the coasters are functional, keeping your table protected and stylish during gatherings.
Specifications:
Includes multiple parts to print and assemble the complete set.
Coasters are sturdy and designed to accommodate various types of glasses and mugs.
Best printed with PLA in festive colors to highlight the details.
Printing and Assembly Instructions:
Print each tier of the tree along with the central stand and star.
Use the OpenSCAD file to personalize a coaster by adjusting parameters as desired.
Assemble the pieces by stacking them onto the central stand in the correct order, as shown in the exploded diagram.
To make your own custom Circular Coaster with your name, please install the free software for CAD design with code. OpenSCAD: https://openscad.org/
Download the .txt file named “OpenSCAD Script Custom Name Circular Coaster”
Run the software OpenSCAD and click on “New” button.
Open the .txt file, and copy the whole script following the single instruction in the text.
Paste the script into the OpenSCAD left-blank window.
You will see something like this
To change the name, font size, and font type, please modify the parameters in the red-marked area shown in the picture below. Only adjust the script lines numbered 105, 106, and 108.
To adjust the number of repetitions for the name, modify the number highlighted in the blue square. Keep in mind that a value of "1" means a single repetition, resulting in two names appearing in the CAD model.
Finally, to change the position of the names, update the values in the matrix for X, Y, and Z coordinates, marked with the green square.
Once you have set up your name and style, we will generate the STL model to later transfer it to PrusaSlicer and print it.
First, click on the Preview tool (F5 key), highlighted in the next picture with a red square at the top. Keep an eye in the lower red square marked area in the bottom of the picture, you must have the message “Total Rendering Time …”
Then, click on the Render tool (F6 key), highlighted in the next picture with a blue square at the top. On the bottom part, you should have this message in the last line “Rendering Finished”. Please, give it some time to your computer to run the code.
Finally, click on the Export as STL tool (F7 Key), highlighted in the next picture with a green square at the top. On the bottom part, you should have this message in the last line “STL export finished”
