Der Mac Mini M4 ist nahezu perfekt, aber ich vermisse einen SD-Kartenleser wie beim Mac Studio sowie einige USB-A-Ports für meine Logitech-Dongles. Nach längerer Recherche habe ich eine passende Lösung gefunden: den Ugreen CM812 (45167) 4-in-1 Multi-Function Card Reader. Zusätzlich habe ich das Gehäuse noch modifiziert und eine Aussparung für den etwas schwer zugänglichen Einschaltknopf hinzugefügt.
Installationstipps:
- Ausrichtung des Kartenlesers: Der Kartenleser muss umgekehrt eingebaut werden, damit er optimal passt. So kann die SD-Karte mit dem Etikett nach oben eingeschoben werden.
- Kabelanpassung: Statt des klobigen mitgelieferten USB-C-Adapters des Kartenlesers nutze ich ein kurzes USB-C-auf-USB-A-OTG-Kabel. Das sorgt für ein aufgeräumtes Erscheinungsbild.
- Stabilisierung: Um sicherzustellen, dass die Abdeckung stabil bleibt und sich nicht verzieht, empfehle ich, mehrere Abstandshalter an der Basis anzubringen (siehe Bild).
Druckempfehlungen:
- Material: Ich empfehle PETG. Es ist robust und verhindert ein Verziehen des Gehäuses durch die warme Abluft des Mac Mini.

Installation Tips:
- Reader Orientation: Install the card reader upside down for a proper fit. This allows the SD card to be inserted with the label facing up.
- Cable Adjustment: Instead of using the bulky USB-C adapter provided with the card reader, I opted for a short USB-C-to-USB-A OTG cable for a cleaner setup.
- Stabilization: To ensure the cover remains stable and doesn’t warp, add several spacers at the base (refer to the image for guidance).
Printing Recommendations:
- Material: I recommend PETG as it is durable and resists warping from the warm exhaust air of the Mac Mini.
