Borne as a led mount for a larger university course project (its visual aesthetic and proportions was designed to fit that project), these LED strip profiles can be printed and mounted with either #8 wood screws, 8-32 (or M4) flat head machine screws in a 1 inch linear mounting pattern.
This holder has 3 parts
- Diffuser - this is standard for both profile types (200mm length)
- End Profile - this profile tapers off with a filleted end with channels to fit through wiring (200mm + end taper length)
- Normal Profile - standard profile (200mm length)
Notes for printing the diffuser
- Recommended to use transparent petg or polycarbonate, other translucent or even light coloured (i.e. white) filaments can also be used.
- Printing at around 260c @ 40mm/s (no fan, petg) is recommended if you want it to be as clear as possible, playing around with these can yield different clarity to your desire.
- the diffuser is optimized for a 0.32mm layer height, the diffuser part is only 1 layer, adding more layers will obstruct clarity but if you want a more frosted look it may be fine to go smaller layer heights
Notes for the profiles
- no material or print setting recommendations, example in photos was printed with black petg at 0.32 mm layer height
- end profiles may need supports for the wire passthrough.
- led strips with presoldered ends, you may need to strip down the heat shrinking typically on them, otherwise the wire may not pass through.
