Updates
-3/3/2025: Republished with modified Lamp Head files in order to provide more ventilation to the electronics area of the lamp. The new LampHead_Front and LampHead_Back files are compatible with all v1 parts.
Overview
This lamp is a project I put together in order to act as a funky grow light for my drosera plant. The only materials required (beyond filament) are a lightbulb and a pendant light/lamp cord like this here:

Files
I've included .3mf files with recommended pairings/orientations, as well as all separate STLs for each part. If you would like to modify any part of the design I've also included .STEP file. These parts were designed with a relatively generous tolerance of around .2mm.
Printing
My lamp was printed fully in PETG as it tends to be more forgiving for compliant/snap-fit mechanisms like this design uses in multiple areas. Some objects require supports, but all are relatively easy to remove and low-waste.
Build
- Print and assemble the LampHead file. The two halves of the headpiece come together with the lamp/bulb holder sandwiched in the middle. You may screw in a lightbulb prior to connecting the two halves now if you already have it, but you can also screw it in later down the line.
- Print the 2xLeg file and assemble both legs using the press-fit dovetail connections in the center of each leg. This is a relatively tight fit-- I've included a tester file LegDovetailTest that can be used prior to printing both legs to check your printer tolerance here.
- Print the 2xUpperLeg file. Insert the previous leg pieces into the UpperLeg slots as shown:
- Print the 2xFoot file. Attach the feet by inserting the bottom of your leg pieces as shown:
NOTE: If you want to match the color pattern of the lamp shown in my photos, then from this file onward you'll be printing in your chosen secondary color.
- Print the 2xHeadtoLegConnector file. Attach both connector pieces to the tops of your legs first:
Next, slide the lamp head into both connectors:
From here your lamp should be able to stand on it's own!
- Next, print the 4xBottomRowHeadPanel file. These panels are pushed into the corresponding slots on the head until they snap into place:
NOTE: Some play/wiggle is acceptable, as long as the piece doesn't fall out on its own
- Next up is the 2xMiddleRowHeadPanel pieces. These are attached similarly to the last set of panels:
- Last of the head panels! Print the 4xTopRowHeadPanel file. Attach as shown:
- Next up is the “pauldron” and headcap accents. Print the 2xPauldronsandHeadCap file. Attach the pauldron pieces to the UpperLeg section as shown:
- Next, connect both halves of the Head Cap using the small 3D printed pins and ensure the lamp cord is coming through the hole between the two pieces:
Once you have the head cap aligned and together, it's simply press-fit into the top of the head:
- Next, print the 8xLegPlate file twice. You need 14 plates total, however extras can be useful in case of print failures or artifacts. These are attached by flexing them into the slots on the sides of the legs, where the nubs should fit and restrict them from freely rotating on their own:
- If you haven't already screwed in a lightbulb, throw one in and enjoy!
