Description

These simple shredders and curlers are super easy to use, won't last as long as the professional ones with the steel blades (be careful of cheap imitations - this will last many holiday seasons!)

SIZES

I have provided three sizes which will shred the ribbon into approximately 3mm, 5mm, and alternating 3 and 6mm ribbons.

OPERATION

Simply place a ribbon between the “tongs” and squeeze them together, you will hear a very satisfying “click” as the tines penetrate the ribbon.  Check that all of the tines have penetrated and pull along the ribbon - almost no effort is requried.

To curl, run the ribbon over one of the “sharp” corners on the back of the tool while holding with your thumb .

There are many instruction videos which will do a much better job than I can of explaining this.

PRINTING

This is not a print for the faint of heart or someone with un untuned printer, but it's very satisfying once you get the hang of it!

DO use a brim (I used 4mm and it was fine).

Having said that, the print-in-place tolerances are all 0.6mm, so everyone has a very good chance of achieving a nice result.    The Prusament PLA Galaxy Grey tool in the photos, was printed in 0.2mm layer sliced in “speed” mode.  Printed on my Prusa Mk4S using a 0.4 nozzle and it printed without a problem, but it did take a little working to free up, and it works with no issue.

The two red ones were printed in Prusament Lipstick Red PLA using 0.15 layer height “structural” slicing and they are pretty much flawless.  Printed with a 0.4 nozzle.

Out of curiosity I tested a very cheap generic PLA and the results were very poor - with effort I made a useable tool, but it did take some tweaking along the way.
