Description

I've created more masks to send out the Year of the Dragon in style! They complement my Fae Dragon masks from earlier this year.
Designed for use in a costume ball or masquerade, these masks are small, lightweight, and packed with great surface textures that show up even at 0.20mm layer height!

Please be aware that, due to the required printing size to make a wearable mask, this model is not suitable for an A1 mini.

Wearing the mask

Holes for threading straps are found on the sides, below the horns/ears.
The holes can fit up to around 10mm thick cords. The thicker the cord/strap, the better support you'll have keeping the mask on.
The mask was sculpted over a standard styrofoam mannequin head model (Find it here) which makes the cut-up mask suitable for most adults to wear, but the all-in-one mask may be too small for them. The “all-in-one” cannot be scaled any larger as it will not fit the build plate. It is 10% smaller than the cut-up version. Use the cut-up version if you want to make the mask larger.

Print Set-up

Assembly is required.
Due to the build plate size limitations, and to allow multicolour without an AMS, it is split into multiple sections: face, whiskers, cheek fur, and horns. Scale these parts all at the same time to make a larger mask and to ensure the plugs will still fit.

Using the cut-up version allows you to make a multicoloured mask without an AMS, however, you will get obvious seams where the parts join together.
I have adjusted flush volumes for printing on an X1C, to reduce filament waste and printing time on the All-In-One, but it still takes a long time and uses a lot of filament, so it is not recommended.

All cut parts are attached via plugs; to make it easier to assemble, I have made sure the plugs on the right side use different plug styles to the left. If the plugs do not fit, I recommend sanding them first. I would also advise you to glue parts together to ensure they don't come off during use.
An “All-In-One” plate for the Eastern Dragon is provided for those who wish to print the mask in one piece with an AMS, but this size is only good for small people and children, so it is not recommended for large adults.

A 3MF made in Creality Slicer is available should the original Bambu Studio one not work.

Supports are required to print the mask; without them, the mask will not print well, if at all.

  1. Turn supports ON.
  2. Set the type to “Tree - Auto”.
  3. Set the style to “Hybrid”.
  4. The threshold angle should be unchanged (the default is 30).
  5. Tick the “on build plate only” box.

Using a brim is optional but highly recommended. As the mask profile is narrow, it is at risk of coming off the hotbed without the brim. The horns, cheek fur, and whiskers should not need a brim at all, but it's safe to still use them.
