Description
Carpet and lino have very different thickness, so doorways use a carpet gripper to create a neat join. Unfortunately, this creates a ~12mm barrier that hinders the small wheels of a walker or light wheelchair.
This design is a simple ramp that can be adjusted to the curve and height of a carpet gripper to give an easier transition. The radius of the curve, and the position will need to be tweaked to give a good fit (I printed a radius gauge, and then made a few 10mm wide test pieces). Some settings gave a thin whisker where the parts intersect, but it was easier to pick off the bed than add complexity to the model.
For a 850mm wide doorway, two 200mm ramps seem to work.
To keep the ramps in place, you may need carpet tape, and there is the option for a “clip” to go under the gripper.
My MK4S printed the ramps upside down on a textured bed to give a good surface finish, and the stepped “clip” held better.
