Description
This is a simple line art Christmas tree ornament I made depicting the iconic Armenian monument titled “We Are Our Mountains”. It is also endearingly called Tatik yev Papik (i.e. Grandma and Grandpa) by the locals.
Please see here for a similar model that's bigger and is more suitable for multi-color prints.
The diameter of the ornament is 76mm.
Nozzle Diameter: 0.40mm
Layer Height: 0.20mm
Filament: 2.89g
I specifically made the thickness of the lines in the design 0.90mm, so that each line is just wide enough for at least two passes with a 0.40mm nozzle (line width of 0.42mm, in my case). Please report back with your results if you do try wider nozzles.
If you're having bed adhesion issues with your printer, then consider reducing your first layer speed in the slicer settings.
Please be aware that the central part connects with the outer ring only at the bottom, so take care when removing the part from the plate. Additionally, as is the case with almost every thing print, in order to avoid deformation during removal I suggest allowing some time for the plate to cool down before bending the plate to pop the part(s) off.
The monument is located in Stepanakert and was completed in 1967 by the Armenian sculptor Sargis Baghdasaryan. It depicts the busts of an elderly Armenian couple hewn from volcanic tuff. It's situated on top of a hill, making it seem like the rest of the statue is deep in the earth. The monument symbolizes the rich connection between the people and the land.
Since late 2023 the monument, and all of Artsakh, is no longer accessible to Armenians who were forced to flee and leave the lands that they and their ancestors have called home for thousands of years. The monument is at constant risk of being destroyed, but despite everything the We Are Our Mountains monument remains and will remain a proud symbol of Armenian heritage in Artsakh (i.e. Nagorno Karabakh).
Շնորհավոր Ամանոր և Սուրբ Ծնունդ։ Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
