Description
Use this angle bevel whenever you need to transfer an existing, unknown angle to a new working piece. It is ideal for laying tiles in a room with non-90° angles, doing woodwork or making any strangle formed pieces fit together. Doing precise parallel lines at an angle to a pieces edge or drawing a parallel line at a precise distance to an edge is easier than ever with this tool.
The main features are the flexibly usable ruler, the diamond shape pen hole, the 30/45/60° angle scale and the stabilizer slider on the bottom end.
This design is 100% 3D printable. You don't need any metal parts. Even the screw and the thumb nut are completely printed with no metal inserts. Thanks to a special design of the screw thread, the threads print just fine. The threads are home-made with a 90° flank angle and a somewhat higher pitch (1.5mm vs. 1mm) to make them very easy to print.
All parts a very easy to print and do not require supports. A standard 0.4mm nozzle is perfectly fine. Simply print them in the uploaded position. I have used PETG, as I do for all functional parts, but I am sure PLA will work as well. Only the slider, with its printed spring, will likely be a problem in PLA, as it is far less flexible than PETG. If PLA is you only option, you can just clip off the spring from the slider, at the risk of loosing the slider at some time ;-)
I recommend to print at least 4 screws at a time together with the thumb nut, even if you just need one screw. That gives the layers enough time to cool before the next layer is applied. This results in very nice threads.
For the threaded parts a layer height of 0.15mm is beneficial to get very nice threads. The other parts print totally fine at 0.2mm layer height.
Simply put the ruler in the handle, stick the screw in from the side with the hexagon indent and screw the thumb nut on. The slider needs to be inserted from the right side, when looking a the hexagon indented side of the grip, with the smaller side if the spring first. Only then will it find it's two resting spots to hold the slider perfectly in the left or right position.
