Description
This is a line art Christmas tree ornament I made depicting the iconic Mother Armenia monument, located in the capital of Armenia, Yerevan.
The diameter of the ornament is 76mm. The bottom portion is 4mm tall and the top is 1.6mm, so 5.6mm in total. You may print the top details in another color to make the details of the ornament design stand out more, as can be seen in the photos.
More Christmas tree ornament models:
Nozzle Diameter: 0.40mm
Layer Height: 0.20mm
Filament: 12.84g
Perform the filament change right before layer #21 (when printing at 0.20mm layer height).
You don't have to print this in multiple colors but I designed the part with that in mind.
I specifically made the thickness of the lines in the design 0.90mm, so that each line is just wide enough for at least two passes with a 0.40mm nozzle (line width of 0.42mm, in my case). Please report back with your results if you do try wider nozzles.
As is the case with almost every thing print, in order to avoid deformation during removal I suggest allowing some time for the plate to cool down before bending the plate to pop the part(s) off.
The monument, called “Mother Armenia”, is located in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia. The 22-meter-tall (72ft) statue depicts a woman wielding a huge sword, and it symbolizes peace through strength. The status is really a sight to behold in person, and due to its (and its pedestal's) impressive height it looks like a solemn guardian overlooking the entire city.
Although the statue was installed in 1967, the full monument (i.e. pedestal and statue) was originally built in 1950, it initially had a statue of Joseph Stalin. The huge pedestal is actually a museum designed by the Armenian architect Rafayel Israyelian, who years later confessed, "Knowing that the glory of dictators is temporary, I have built a simple three-nave Armenian basilica". Stalin's statue was taken down in 1962 and in 1967 Mother Armenia, designed by Ara Harutyunyan, was installed in its place. The full height of the monument, including the pedestal, is 51 meters (167 feet).
