Description
Always eating from the same bowl can be bad for your bird, which is why it is recommended to hide food in their toys or other places in order to encourage their foraging behaviour.
My 2 sun conures are not too big on this behaviour on their own so I have decided to force their hand with this bowl that I designed.
It is shaped in a way to slow down your bird and make it more difficult for them to scoop out all the food they do not want.
I have 16 scattered across the space where the birds occupy and I keep them all somewhat low on food forcing the birds to explore all the bowl to find what they want to eat.
I think this worked out great and my conures seem to enjoy the idea. my budgies even started with these bowls too out of curiosity.
The size I have here (~6.2 x 6.4 cm for the bowl part) is what I think is good for the typical conure, though you can of course scale it to your needs for any bird you may have.
for mounting we have 2 options, with latch and without latch, my birds got really good at pulling the bowls off of their hooks so I had to make a version with a latch, I would recommend that version.
