Inspiration

The Festool MFT/3 multifunction table is an incredible tool, equipped with a miter gauge and a rail system for precise angled cuts—fantastic! However, when I don’t need to cut, I want to make full use of the table’s surface without clutter. At the same time, I want to keep all the components for cutting with the miter gauge and rail easily accessible. This inspired me to create a solution that optimally utilizes the space beneath the table in an organized and practical way.

Project Description

Festool is renowned for its commitment to cleanliness, order, and efficiency—values that every maker and craftsman appreciates in their workspace. This project embraces those same principles, offering a solution that keeps your tools organized, accessible, and perfectly integrated with your Festool MFT multifunction table.I have designed modular supports, fully customizable and optimized for 3D printing, that can be screwed to the lower frame of the table. These supports act as holders for cutting guides and the miter gauge, ensuring that your workspace remains tidy while keeping essential tools within arm’s reach. The design efforts have focused on creating a single file capable of serving multiple functions, making this solution both practical and efficient. Each piece is interchangeable with another, simplifying the assembly process and reducing potential errors. Specifically:

  • To support the miter gauge, the piece should be mounted by screwing it along its short side, using two units.
  • To hold the rail, the pieces should be mounted by screwing them along their long sides, using four units

This approach ensures a foolproof assembly, as the same part can be used in different configurations without requiring additional components or complex instructions.

Why choose this project?

  • Precision and practicality: The supports are designed to perfectly fit Festool accessories, ensuring secure storage without compromising functionality.
  • Maximum organization: No more scattered tools or misplaced items; everything has its dedicated spot under the table.
  • Modular design: With just one file, you can use the support in both vertical and horizontal orientations to suit different needs. Mount it vertically (short side) to hold the miter gauge or horizontally (long side) to secure the rail. This versatility simplifies assembly while maintaining functionality.
  • Clean and professional look: The design aligns with Festool’s aesthetic of order and efficiency, enhancing the overall appearance of your workstation.
  • Print-in-place design: After several refinements, the supports are now optimized as print-in-place models, eliminating the need for additional print supports. This makes them easier to print while maintaining excellent structural integrity.
  • Easy to print: The STL files are optimized for durable materials like PETG or ABS, ensuring reliability and long-lasting performance.

This project is more than just an accessory—it’s a way to elevate your workspace in line with Festool’s philosophy of maintaining a clean, organized environment. Whether you’re a professional craftsman or a DIY enthusiast, this solution will help you work smarter while keeping your tools in perfect order. By combining the values of Festool with the versatility of 3D printing, this project is designed to inspire makers who value precision, efficiency, and cleanliness in their workshops. Download the STL files now and take a step toward transforming your multifunction table into an even more functional and organized space!

Assembly Instructions

To complete the assembly of this project, you will need the following:

  1. Print the file:
    • Print 6 units of the provided STL file. Ensure your 3D printer is calibrated for optimal results and uses a durable material like PETG or ABS.
  2. Required hardware:
    • 6 screws: M8 x 20 mm, Hexagon Socket Countersunk Head Screws, conforming to DIN 7991 / ISO 10642 standards. These screws feature a hexagonal internal drive and a countersunk head for a flush finish.
    • 6 nuts: M8, conforming to DIN 934 standards, to be inserted into the slots under the table frame (easily insertable from the sides).
    • 1 Allen key (hex key): Size 5 mm, for tightening the screws. You can use an L-shaped Allen key or a T-handle hex key for better grip and torque.
  3. Assembly steps:
    • Insert the M8 nuts into the slots located on the underside of the table frame. These slots are designed for easy side insertion.
    • Position each printed support under the table according to its intended function:
      • For the miter gauge, mount two supports vertically (screwing along their short sides).
      • For the rail, mount four supports horizontally (screwing along their long sides).
    • Use the M8 x 20 mm countersunk screws to secure each support in place, tightening them with the 5 mm Allen key.

By following these instructions, you’ll achieve a clean, organized, and functional setup that maximizes your workspace efficiency while keeping all components securely stored and readily accessible.
