Description

I really like the little 1x1 case by @ftobler and printed a bunch of them. However, I couldn't resist making a few of my own tweaks to the design.

  • Easier Overhangs - The original model has pretty shallow overhangs on the corners that can be tricky to print. I made them steeper.
  • Magnets - I added holes at the bottom for 4x2mm magnets. These are intended to be a snug press fit. They have the same spacing as standard Gridfinity so they should work with any magnetic base.
  • Interlocking Lid - I added a lip to the top of the case and lid that interlocks when closed.
  • Interior Liner - A thin liner that can be printed separately in a different color.

In addition I also made a few customized cases for SD cards, Micro SD cards, and mini 3DBenchys. The dual color lids are made using SVG files as modifiers.

I also wanted a heavier weighted base for these, so I made a 2x3 and 3x4 version. These are designed for 0.5oz wheel weights, don't forget to add a pause to insert them!

Printing Tips:

Everything should print fine with a 0.4mm nozzle, but I opted to use a 0.25mm for the crispest possible details. I recommend printing everything with PLA, except for the Latch Spring which should be PETG (I believe it will last longer). A piece of filament is used as a hinge pin for both the lid and the latch. I recommend putting a longer piece in and trimming to length with flush cutters.
