Sony SEL200600G Lens Bumper – Protective Rings

Protect your Sony SEL200600G lens from accidental scratches and edge wear with this custom-designed bumper. This model includes two protective rings: one for the front and one for the rear section of the lens. Designed in Onshape, the bumpers are optimized to safeguard the front edges, especially when attaching or removing the lens hood.

I printed the model in BambuLab TPU 95A HF, but a softer TPU material could also work well. To enhance the durability and aesthetics of the bumper, I recommend enabling a subtle fuzzy skin effect (e.g., point distance 0.25 and thickness 0.25) and using a random seam in your slicer settings. These features hide the layer lines and minimize potential weak spots caused by layer stretching during use.

The bumper’s purpose is practical: when the lens hood is placed and twisted improperly, it can scratch the edges of the lens body (see pictures…). These rings act as a buffer, preventing direct contact and ensuring your lens stays in pristine condition.
