Description
I've been seeing all these pistachio bowls out there and there just aren't enough riffs on the same idea so I made my own. I wanted a nice looking shape with a funnel that you can chuck the nuts into, with enough space to hold one load of shells. Hopefully I have achieved these goals.
A couple of iterations on the basic idea and I made the inner bowl lock into the outer bowl with a screw thread, raised the funnel part up to both act as a handle and make it easier to fill without dumping nuts straight down the hole, and adjusted the volumes to pretty much match full nuts vs shells.
Make a game of it, see how far away you can score a nut-shell-goal.
I have got good printing results using variable layer heights (basically smaller layers for the threaded layers and the tops of the two bowl.) I also found it best to specify more top layers (or top surface height) for the inner bowl at least - to give it a nice solid edge, 2.4mm seems enough.
A note on the modifier piece: do not print this piece: I had issues with the inner fillet of the inner bowl with my normal 10% infill (leaving gaps even with more walls), so added the modifier piece to allow you to bump up the infill to provide enough support. (You can use this model in the slicer to add a modifier part, and just change the infill for that area). You could also just use height modifier but it's done now.
