This is a model of a standard Stanley utility knife blade. I wanted to make the most of my Pichi G9 knife that I got on Kickstarter by turning it into a less dangerous fidget toy.
There are two basic variations:
- Uncompensated or compensated: The uncompensated model is true to the blade specifications, while the compensated one has slightly larger alignment notches to allow for some expansion while printing.
- Pointed or rounded edges: The pointed edges are true to the specification, while the rounded ones are a bit safer.
Printing instructions
- Choose the version you want.
- Print the .stl file as oriented (the blade is largest on the print bed).
- I recommend 0.1mm layer height with ironing.
Assembly
- Gently press the joint through both blades until it is fully inserted.
Safety notes
- This is not a toy.
- It is less dangerous than a real blade.
- Please supervise your children at all times.
- Best not to bring this on an airplane.
Notes
- I designed this model in OpenSCAD and it's fully parameterized. If you'd like a simple modification (i.e., notch diameter, blade angle, rounding radius, etc.), send me a message and I'll see what I can do.
